Board Of Directors

Herbert Wigwe (Chairman)
Mr. Herbert Wigwe holds a B.Sc. Degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Masters Degree in Banking and International Finance from the University College of North Wales. An Alumnus of Harvard Business School, he holds another Masters Degree in Financial Economics from the University of London. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

He has close to 2 decades banking experience; with over 10 years spent in Guaranty Trust. He left Guaranty Trust as an Executive Director to champion the transformation of Access Bank. His experience covers Corporate/Institutional Banking, Commercial Banking and Product Development.
Ebenezer Olufowose (Director)
Ebenezer Olufowose holds a first class honours degree in Economics from the University of Lagos where he graduated in 1982 as “Best All - round Graduating Student in the Faculty of Social Sciences”; He also holds an MA in International Economics from the University of Sussex, Brighton, England where he studied as a Sir Adam Thompson Scholar.

Ebenezer’s banking experience spans over two decades with successful track records in Corporate Finance, Project Finance and Investment Banking. He began his professional banking career at NAL Merchant Bank in 1985 and thereafter worked in various capacities in First City Merchant Bank Ltd (FCMB), Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Asset and Resource Management Company Ltd (as a Director), GTB Gambia (as pioneer MD) and NIB (a member of the Citigroup). He was appointed Executive Director at NIB in 2004 and was subsequently promoted to the Director level at Citigroup in January 2007.

He joined Access Bank Plc in June 2007 as Executive Director, Investment Banking Division.  He has attended several training programmes within and outside the country including executive programmes in the International Law Institute, Washington DC (USA), Institute of Management Development, Lausanne (Switzerland) and Lagos Business School (Nigeria).
Dr. Emmanuel Abolo (Director)
Dr. Emmanuel Abolo is the Chief Economist of Access Bank Plc and doubles as the Group Head, Market Risk Management. Prior to his present function, he was responsible for the set up of the Operational Risk department of the Bank. An erudite scholar and Risk Manager, he joined Access Bank from First Bank Plc where he headed the Operational Risk Management Group. During his 12 years in First Bank, he had lead roles in strategy, corporate planning, economic intelligence, and credit analysis & portfolio management departments. He was also appointed Director in four of the bank’s non-banking subsidiaries.

Emmanuel has a versatile 20 year-professional career that spans the academia, journalism, as well as the private and public sectors. He commenced his tertiary education as a National Merit Award scholar and holds a PhD in Econometrics. He has served on various national committees and published several articles in the field of economic-oriented research and operational risk management.
Adamu Atta (Director)
Adamu Atta is the Chairman and Chief Executive, Matad Group Nigeria Ltd and has over nineteen years experience in financial management and economic consulting, during which time he has developed many valuable relationships in the financial sector. Adamu Atta has been involved with various projects funded by The World Bank, DFID and UNDP amongst others; as well as projects involving institutional reforms and capacity building in sectors such as water, power, transport, housing, tourism and recently in industries within the oil and gas sector.

He was appointed by the Federal Government to committees in the oil, gas and textile industries with the mandate to coordinate systems for monitoring oil and gas supplies to industry and to instill transparency into the sector. He was also appointed to the Nigerian Business Forum by the Presidency.

Adamu Atta holds a B.A. (Honours) degree in International Relations/International Economics and an MA in International Development Economics both from the University of California (UCLA), Los Angeles. He also holds a Masters degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Winston Osuchukwu (Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director)
Winston has expertise in various asset classes (fixed income, equity, real estate) as well as alternative investment products and strategies (Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Commodities). He joined Access Investments and Securities Ltd from Afrinvest West Africa Limited where he led the Asset Management business. Winston joined Afrinvest in 2007 from Lehman Brothers Wealth and Asset Management in Dallas, Texas. In Lehman Brothers, he managed funds for institutions and a selection of High Net-worth clients. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Winston was in the structured finance practice at JP Morgan Chase.

Winston holds a Bachelors degree in finance from the University of Houston and an MBA from the Cox School of Business. He also holds the NASD Series 7, 63 & 65 certifications.
